On 8 March, the Society for Rural Development Promotion Services in Tirupattur staged the March for Equality. The march was to highlight issues such as the age of marriage for girls and women, domestic violence, and social gender norms. International Women's Day 2016 was focused on the need for economic empowerment for all women. In Tirupattur, trustees from the Society for Rural Development Services met with students from different schools. Nearly 200 students from 3 schools participated in the event. The meeting was attended by women police officers and government officers. The students were told about the problems that women face in our society and how they can be solved. They were also given tips on how to stay safe.
